DEFRA Landscape Recovery Scheme
Boothby Wildland HIOSA
'For me the Historic Environment principles will really help us when considering future land management work/interventions at Boothby, to ensure HE features are included and considered (and promoted!) as part of our plans'.
Quote from Claire Barratt Boothby Site Manager
Project Summary Boothby Wildland is a 617-hectare pioneering rewilding and nature recovery project in Lincolnshire, England, transforming a former intensive arable farm into a dynamic mosaic of wetlands, scrub, grassland, and woodland supported by DeFRAs Landscape Recovery Scheme.
Fearn Heritage Role Fearn Heritage worked closely with the Landscape Recovery Scheme project team at Nattergal to provide a Heritage Impact and Opportunities Assessment. This involved a detailed heritage baseline study, the creation of a series of land use opportunity maps, condition assessment and a detailed impact assessment for the nature restoration proposals that are central to the project. We also developed a series of Historic Environment Principles for the project team to use throughout the project to guide their work. Community engagement is an important part of the project and we created a series of recommendations for future community engagement with the heritage on the site, based on the results of the baseline survey.
